Lia Philcox is a filmmaker and researcher with a background in social anthropology (M.Res., Goldsmiths, University of London) and factual film production (IADT National Film School, Dublin). Her work blends documentary storytelling with an anthropological approach, often exploring cultural and social themes.

She has contributed research to major productions and smaller documentary projects. A certified scuba diver, Lia has developed a passionate interest in marine ecology and citizen science and is currently creating a film featuring the journey scuba divers around Carlingford Lough have been on, part supported by Shifting Tides, to become citizen scientists.

Dr. Sarah McLean has served as Head of Science at the Loughs Agency since 2021, having initially joined as a Senior Aquaculture and Shellfisheries Officer in 2011. A graduate of Queen’s University Belfast with an Honours degree in Zoology and a PhD in Invasive Species Management, Sarah’s postgraduate studies focused on fisheries. Her expertise lies in applied fisheries science and habitat restoration, with extensive experience in both marine and freshwater environments.

Heidi McIlvenny is a marine scientist and community advocate whose work bridges ecological restoration and local empowerment. Currently pursuing a NERC-funded PhD at Queen’s University Belfast, Heidi explores the carbon dynamics and cultural significance of seagrass ecosystems. Her research and fieldwork focus on engaging coastal communities in the restoration of vital habitats like seagrass meadows and oyster reefs. With experience spanning marine consultancy, citizen science, and policy advisory roles, Heidi champions collaborative approaches to marine conservation. She is a One Young World Ambassador, a TEDx speaker, and a passionate voice for inclusive, community-driven solutions to ecological challenges.
