Funding Alert: The Ireland Funds Reopens Hearts of the Community Fund
This year, The Ireland Funds will award $1 million in grants through two targeted rounds of the Heart of the Community Fund.
The Heart of the Community Fund 2025 will provide grants between £5,000-20,000 to nonprofit organisations with an annual turnover of less than £3,000,000.
Round 1: Northern Ireland
Open 29 May – 27 June 2025
This round will focus on organisations in rural and hard-to-reach areas, particularly those:
- Supporting youth through civic leadership, employment, and ambition-building
- Addressing urgent mental health challenges in communities affected by trauma and limited opportunity.
Round 2: Republic of Ireland
Launching Autumn 2025 (dates TBC)
Priorities of the Heart of the Community Fund 2025
For the first round of the Heart of the Community Fund for 2025, within our four pillars, we will prioritise applications from organisations working in Northern Ireland in the following areas:
- Organisations across Northern Ireland working with youth (0-23 years) to encourage civic leadership, providing opportunities for upskilling and employment, and investing in youth talent and ambition; and
- Organisations across Northern Ireland tackling and providing mental health supports.
Priority: Within these focus areas, organisations working in hard-to-reach areas, particularly those serving rural communities, will be prioritised.
